What's a mod and that's what it does
A mod changes something. Above all, the term is used in relation to computer software, especially games. So a mod changes this software.
The mods are usually not created by the official development team, but by private hobby developers. These are mostly players of the modified (or "modded") game themselves.
A mod can change very different things in a computer game: starting with the graphics - such as objects or textures - through new functions to bug fixes, i.e. bug fixes.
A mod is thus similar, but not the same as a so-called plug-in or add-on: These also expand and improve games and programs, but are usually published by the official development team.
Examples of game mods
In our overview of game mods you will find a large selection of the most popular modifications. GTA, Minecraft, Urban Terror or DayZ - you will find cool expansions for many games.
There are lots of good mods for GTA 4: The environment mod, for example, makes the weather in the game more realistic.
The most popular Minecraft mods can also be found in our download portal: With Elemental Arrows, for example, you can not only shoot wooden arrows, but fire and other arrows.
Under Better Skyrim we have brought together numerous mods for the mega role-playing game: For example, the Unarmed Warfare mod complements the fist-fighting ability.
